Placement Description

Gain invaluable skills and knowledge in the Food and Beverage department and Rooms Division of a world-leading luxury hotel/resort through a J-1 program at the Crescent Hotels – Horseshoe Bay Resort . Train in a diverse and multicultural environment, under the guidance and leadership of industry leaders in the guest services field as you rotate through different outlets on the property. This rotational program is designed to give you exposure to the international hospitality industry and give you the experience to excel in your career when you return to your home country.

Training Phases

  • Orientation
  • Restaurant Service Mastery Training
    This phase is designed to introduce the trainee to the fast-paced and varied food service outlets within the Resort. These areas can be extremely busy for bursts of time and the trainee will build on skills already learned and advance those skills in preparation for increased guest contact and service skills required. They will spend time learning additional management tasks such as establishing goals and leading a team
  • In Room Dining Experience Training
    Following the completion of Phase 1, the trainee will have the opportunity to train in In Room Dining. Knowledge of this department is essential for the duration of the program as it builds a foundation of understanding guests’ needs and promotes direct relationships with key staff in the Food and Beverage outlets.  The trainee will learn and improve their knowledge and skills related to the ability to prioritize, organize and follow through, perform well under pressure of meeting schedules and time lines for guests’ orders. This phase will also show the importance of “delighters” when the resort can make a strong impression on a guest upon arrival and/or recover from an earlier mistake or issue. This phase teaches the trainee to think and act independently since the responsibility of a guest orientated service sits with the trainee. It will also strengthen communication throughout the resort departments by working closely with culinary staff, Front Desk and Conference Services/Events teams
  • Banquet Events Management Training
    The trainee will train in the banquets department to improve their knowledge and skills of food and beverage service as it applies to banquet and event implementation. This phase will build on the two prior phases and introduce the trainee to the social catering and event functions of the hotel.

  • This is a 12-month program position
  • Situated on the shores of Lake LBJ, just 45 minutes from Austin, Horseshoe Bay Resort is an AAA four-diamond lake and golf resort offering luxurious accommodations, family friendly amenities and world-class golf in the heart of the Texas Hill Country


$7.25; This is a tipped position. Base rate of pay varies from $3.90 – $9.00 per hour; will receive a minimum of $7.25/hour regardless of tips received
